What does DNA and RNA stand for?

DNA stands for deoxyribose nucleic acid. 
RNA stands for ribose nucleic acid. 

DNA and RNA both carry important information and are nucleic acids. 

Additionally, they are polymers of mononucleotides (smaller monomer units). 

Poly means 'many'. 
Mono means 'one' or 'single'.
